Philippa and her new ride Sparcco have qualified for the 2009 Horse of the Year show Newcomers final. Owned by A Bradshaw, Sparrco has been very impressive, jumping some excellent clear rounds at Bolesworth Castle followed by an excellent performance in the Speed Grand PRIX at the North West Equestrian Promotions Summer Classic in her home town of Mawdesley, Lancashire - see video here...
Philppa will now be going to the Scope festival where she hopes to have most of the string in action.
Philippa and Nivana D'oc shine at Villeneuve-Loubet
Building on her excellent performances at the Addington Premier show, Philippa took the horses across to France for the marathon three week international show at Villeneuve-Loubet.
Anxious to get all the horses comfortable with their surroundings and the arena, Philippa started with a nice steady double clear on Powerboy. After an nice round for four faults on Penelope D'oc, Philippa and Nivana D'oc were very impressive in jumping a double clear in the 1.35m Open contest on the Wednesday. Nivana D'oc was again in great form on the Thursday, jumping double clear in one of the big and technical 1.40m International classes and although Utah had a couple of poles down in her introduction class, Philippa was was very happy with 'Lilly'.
After a nice jump around on the previous day Philippa and Utah IV were in great form on the Friday, jumping a very impressive double clear to finish in 8th place in the 1.45m Grand PRIX Loubet. 'Lilly' was in fine form at Addington last month and appears to have taken that form to France.
Saturday of week one saw Powerboy jump another double clear to finish a good 11th and Nivana D'oc was again in excellent form lowering just one pole in the 1.40m International open. Nivana D'oc has been stepped up to the bigger classes and has taken it all in her stride, this very scopey and talented mare looks to have a very exciting future. Philippa finished week one with a very smooth clear on Penelope D'oc.
Week two started with a nice double clear on Penelope D'oc to finish a promising 9th place in the younger horse class. Utah carried her form over from week one jumping double clear to finish in 15th place in the 1.40m Open but Nivana D'oc was again the star jumping clear in the 1.40m International class to qualify for the final and then in the final, jumping a superb double clear to finish in 7th place. Philippa has been delighted with the way 'Nellie' has been jumping and could not have asked for more on stepping her up to the bigger classes.
The final week of the show was another successful week for Philippa qualifying for both finals of the biggest classes of this three week show. Nivana D'oc lead the way jumping another double clear in the 1.40m International classes to qualify for the final, 'Nellie' really has been a revelation at this show and it was fitting she qualified for the final. Not to be outdone by her younger stablemate, Utah showed all her talent to jump a very eye catching double clear to finish in 17th place which was enough to qualify for the main Grand PRIX on the Sunday. If both Nivana D'oc and Utah carry this form into the summer, Philippa will have a formidable team of horses for the big summer classes.
On the final weekend of this marathon show, Philippa was again in great form and was very very close to challenging for both top prizes. After jumping a superb clear round on Nivana D'oc, Philippa looked in determined mood in the jump off but just when things were going well Nivana D'oc clipped the back rail of a very wide oxer and Philippa's chance had gone settling for 13th place in the final of the 1.45m International Classes. Nivana D'oc has been a star at this show and has taken to the bigger classes with ease, a very exciting summer awaits this very talented mare.
The Grand Prix was one of those heartbreaking classes for Philipa. It was obvious from early on that this was by far the biggest and most technical track built at the show with very few early clear rounds. By the time Philippa and Utah came into the ring there were only three clear rounds but Utah an Philippa were in fantastic form and put in there best performance of the year so far. Having left all the poles standing, Philippa quickly glanced at the clock to heartbreakingly see she had missed to time allowed by two hundredths of second. However, it was a great effort by Philippa and Utah and with only one double clear round in the Grand PRIX she still finished in an excellent sixth place.

Philippa has great start to 2009
With her injury problems fully behind her, Philippa has had a great start to 2009 with excellent performances at the Addington Manor Senior Premier Show in the last week of January.
Nivana D'oc, one of Philippa's very promising young horses, continued to show that she has a big future with a very good third in the BSJA WINTER GRADE C QUALIFIER, putting in two flawless rounds of show jumping to finish just behind Anthony Condon (Viceroy) and Stuart Harvey (Vivando). Philippa is very excited about the season ahead with "Nellie" and will be looking to qualify for the Foxhunter final at 2009 HOYS as well as other qualifying events.
Philippa's stable star Utah VII has wasted little time getting right back to her very best with a very impressive 3rd place in the Senior A&B Grand PRIX just behing two very good horses in MULLAGHDRIN GOLD RAIN (Shane Breen) and OPPORTUNITY B (Helen Tredwell). Philippa and "Lilly" will compete in all the big classes in the upcoming Senior Premier Show's and with this great start to 2009 hopefully Philippa will qualify for the final of the Senior Premiers Shows Grand PRIX at the British Open in April.

Addington Summer Classic
Philippa and Nivanna D'oc nearly have sensational return
In what would have been a remarkable comeback, Philippa and Nivana D'oc finished a heratbreaking third (first two to qualify for the HOYS Foxhunter final) in the second round of the Foxhunters at Addington Manor Equestrain Centre. With Philippa just returning from a serious knee injury, and Nivanna D'oc not having jumped as much as Philippa would have liked, both produced stunning performance by going triple clear to finish in third place. With eleven going through to the third round, Philippa held on to second place until the second last to go, where Robert Smith - Unique just managed to get inside Philippa's time to claim the top spot. Nivanna D'oc had shown great promise last year, having qualified for some major finals, and this very talented mare looks a very exciting prospect for this year and beyound.
Philippa also jumped one of her younger horses at the show, Penelope D'oc and showed a good deal of promise lowering just one pole in the 1.15m Open contest. Philippa will try and get as much show experience into this youngster and hopes to come back to the Addington Young Horse show in August with this talented horse.
Welcome back Philippa
After sustaining a serious knee injury last December Philippa has finally worked her way back to fitness and is back riding. Her knee is still sore, especially after riding, but the specialists have told her she can ride again as it will not further aggravate the injury. Philippa will now work her way back in slowly and has a great deal of work to do with her younger horses who are obviously slightly behind where Philippa would like them to be. Philippa will be aiming them at age classes, notably the Addington Young Horse show in August, and getting them show experience.
